It took me a couple days to overcome a two-cheat-day-weekend but I am ending the week 1.5 pounds lighter. I've started doing kettle ball swings and sit ups as often as possible and we'll see if that helps me blast through 200.
Can't wait to see what was in Craft's box...

Last year, I had to win the competition. It was my wedding. Every competitor could have told me at the end of the 1st competition that you let me win. You were just trying to be a good friend and not show up the groom on his wedding day. I get it, thanks. This would have been better than trying discredit my 30 lbs weight loss in a month. I recognize this is insane and probably not that healthy. Definitely not sustainable. Surely not something I could have maintained for a long time.
This year is a much different story.
1. I don't have that extra boost for our wedding and honeymoon.
2. Competition is 3 months not 1 month
3. Trien has a big lead on the competition. Last year, after I submitted my weight loss to the blog there was no one else in the competition that posed a threat to my chances for victory. I do have to give credit to Trien and Craft for making it somewhat close. Also Boyd did not have a scale in Cambodia and had no idea of his own weight. Although Trien may be in a big lead right now, we haven't heard from him in the blog in a couple days so that may indicate that he is starting to struggle with his diet. Usually when I am quieter on the blog it could mean that I am not eating healthy or that I am busy working or both.
4. I am going to make a concerted effort to eat healthy and watch my portion control. Maybe have a cheat meal, but not a cheat day.
5. I am also going to try to lift weights and look better, rather than just trying to cut weight. Last year, I did not lift any weights because I wanted to lose as much weight as possible. I ran a lot and used myfitnesspal religiously.
Yes, it is true that I want the repeat victory and Kelly won't be happy with me if I lose the competition. But I want this years weight-loss to last.
I think the only way for me to make this weight-loss more permanent is to have some of the things that I enjoy and not completely deprive myself. Last year's blog, Kelly wrote up my past eating habits. One of the things she listed was the amount of bubble gum I had per day. While embarrassing and true and potentially fattening, I don't care. I like chewing gum and thats my prerogative!
- Carrot juice (surprisingly delicious)
- Smoked salmon
- Whey protein shake

7 of the best weight loss foods (See Below).
I welcome and encourage all other competitors to share helpful articles, great recipes, a little tricks about their own dieting success.
Some fellow dieters may have their Quinoa, Boyder claims this is his "Vice in the World." Or Caps and Oprah share their Brushing the teeth and then not eating philosophy.
Others some they may have their cheat days. Like Craft's $.50 breakfast pizza. And like for me and today I went to Fabio's (from Top Chef) restaurant, Sienna Tavern, in Chicago and had this delicious meal.
|Spiced Watermelon Salad|
|1 Softball Sized Meatball|
This is a vegetable to eat when you want to lose weight. It has a great source of fiber and calcium and makes as a delicious snack or even when it is included in a salad. You can steam it for 3 to 4 minutes so that it is tender but still bright green. Do not over steam broccoli because it loses the healthy nutrients that it contains. If you want to add a little more taste to it, you can try a fat-free salad dressing to dip it in.
Cabbage is another vegetable that could help you lose weight especially if you eat this on a daily basis. It contains a good amount of water, as well antioxidant components such as vitamin C and is great in boosting up a person’s immunity. You can try it lightly sautéed in stir-fry or paired with some sweet-tart apples.
This vegetable is full of cancer-fighting phytonutrients, contains folate and also is a great source of vitamin C. Try packing some for a snack at work or school. You can lightly steam it to maximize the cauliflower antioxidant power.
Besides a weight loss fruit, grapefruit is also a powerhouse for heart health, contains vitamin C, potassium and folic acid. It also has pectin which is a soluble fiber that helps fight off atherosclerosis. There are pink and red varieties to choose from which also contain vitamin A and lycopene which also helps in protecting arterial walls from oxidative damage. It also provides the body with a good amount of water.
Lettuce actually only has around 60 to 70 calories per pound and is one of the diet-friendly foods. Romaine lettuce is a great source of B vitamins, manganese which helps regulate the blood sugar and essential for proper immune system function and folic acid. Try choosing dark green or purple varieties such as the red or green leaf because they contain the most nutrients.
This vegetable is flavorful and is rich with folic acid, vitamin K and iron. It is also a vegetable that you want to focus on to help you lose some weight. It also provides components that fight off certain diseases such as vitamin C and carotene.

While it may appear I'm late to the game, au contraire, it's all a part of an elaborate plan -- THE A CAPS 5 TOOLS TO VICTORY. But we'll get to those a little bit later.
In the years following Seattle I actually got into wonderful shape. So much so that I would spend weeks alone on nude beaches, just showing off my new body. I attribute this success to massive amounts of meditation (often times days on end) which really put me in-tune with my internal organs. I no longer ate just to eat. I actually listened to my body and fed it only what in needed to transcend.
1st A CAPS TOOL TO VICTORY -- GET FAT! The more you put on the more you can lose.

As a supporting image I searched "Mexican Rancher Photo". Rather than posting a pic of a rough and tumble Mexican dude, I settled on the image below because it made me laugh when I saw it. Thank you Google.
